Tom Slot became a friend at this year's NYC Marathon when the story of the Light Up the Room Foundation touched his heart. After a brief acquaintance at
the beginning of the marathon, Tom reached out in the days following to talk
about what he does and how his passion can benefit Light Up the Room.
Aside from being a passionate runner, Tom is an actor, director, musician,Professor of Drama atQueens College, and Partner and the Artistic Director for Original Binding Productions. Original Binding creates a number of productions each year and also gives back to the NYC community by joining efforts with local organizations and foundations and giving an opportunity to up-and-coming actors and directors.
After a few calls and a dinner with Tom and his wife, Jessica, we were very excited for the prospects of joining efforts to benefit the LUTR Foundation and hopefully, Original Binding, as well. The Light Up the Room Foundation is excited to announce Original Bindings first production of 2014, and Tom's original piece, My Father's Ashes. A portion of the proceeds from each show will go towards the LUTR. The play runs from February 27th through March 9th, 2014 at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios. Theatre 54 is located at 244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor New York, NY.
My Father’s Ashes: The Sisters Play is a contemporary drama play that explores the issues of love, grief, and family. We look forward to seeing you at one of the shows in February or March and all the best in 2014.
